Our instructors, Lyle, Robert and John have 8 to 13 years of Systema training and are certified to teach Systema by Vladimir Vasiliev. Systema has no rank system except student and instructor. Our instructors rotate with leading the class while the others assist in individual training. Lyle has black belts from two oriental martial arts.
Systema is a martial art used by Russian Special Forces. It was introduced to the west after the fall of the Soviet Union Vladimir Vasiliev in 1993. He was trained by Col. Michael Ryabko, Chief instructor in Russia.
Systema teaches principles of body mechanics that can be adapted as needed, rather than techniques that work in specific cases,
Systema recognizes we are all different. It can be adapted to different body types and physical condition, unlike some martial arts where one size fits all,
We practice defense and offense with fists and weapons such as knives, clubs and chains. We learn how to give a punch and how to take a punch to avoid injury. Systema has four principles that if done properly will sustain you in this or any other martial art, as well as helping you lead a healthier life. They are: breathe, move, relax and maintain your structure. Once you can do these four things simultaneously, the rest of the training falls into place.
There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. These pictures are action shots taken at our classes. Visit our Facebook link to see more pictures and videos of our training.

Systema is a battlefield tested martial art used by Soviet Special Forces. We teach principals that you adapt to your body type and ability instead of one size for all. Throughout the instruction there is an emphasis on relaxed movement and breathing to reduce tension. In addition to hand to hand training, we use and defend against weapons such as knives, clubs and chains. There are no tests, belts or rank, Systema students can be calm while learning, rather than worrying about passing a test.
Classes run approximately two hours. We teach the student the principals of Systema, to breath, move, relax and maintain the structure for self defense, combat and daily life. Discount for multiple members of same family and buying three months in advance.
We are able to keep costs down by training outside in Reid Park at the double Ramada #32, west of Hy Corbet Field. As Systema is a military martial art we train outside year round regardless of the temperature. See Google Maps: Reid Park, Ramada 32. If another group reserves Ramada 32 we meet at Ramada 31 north of it.
We never know when we will use our training for self defense. Therefore, we wear the type of clothing we use every day. If you are ever attacked, you will not have time to pull off your shoes, put on a uniform and pull out the mats. As a practical matter though, the clothing should be loose fitting and easy to wash. You can order Official Systema T-shirts through your instructor or online at SystemaUSA.com
Visit us on Facebook for more photos and class videos.
People ask "What is Systema like." We don't like to compare it to anything, but maybe: Krav Maga without the injuries. If you have questions about the training available, send us a message. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
